Community colleges becoming a bigger part of route to four-year degrees

Nationwide, there is a growing trend to attend community colleges before finishing up degrees at a traditional four-year university. The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center reports nearly half of students — 49 percent — receiving bachelor’s degrees in 2016 had previously attended a community or junior two-year college.
